Best Rideshare Dashcams for Uber, Lyft, and Taxi Drivers

Video Review

Video Transcript

hey what’s up guys so we’re back here
with Alex from black box my car and
we’re gonna be talking about in this
video the very best to ride share
dashcam so those of you who drive for
uber or lyft or taxi drivers you guys
need some dash cams that are a little
bit different than traditional drivers
and so I wanted to talk a little bit
about maybe the best dash cam
specifically for rideshare drivers
traditionally speaking with the ricer
dash cams we want front-facing dash cam
as well as interior cabin facing dash
cam so technically these are considered
to channel system but instead of
mounting that rear second channel dash
cam in the back of your windshield
you’ll be mounting this either I mean on
the front windshield essentially so that
it faces inside and with these dash cams
that are specifically facing interior
you wouldn’t need ireland cysts so in
the pitch darkness we’ll still be able
to pick up like you know in black and
white mode so that you can still
recognize whether the passengers are
what the drivers are and more and more
weird lifts and not even ride share
drivers some people rather want dash
cams that are facing front and interior
facing purposes break into vehicles
capture their faces and so forth yeah
it’s nice to show that you weren’t
distracted in case of an accident or
something you have that extra proof in
regeneration exactly but more and more
so these days with popularity went older
and left right your dash cam so cold
right here dash cam bundles are yeah
constantly being ask them you told me
this morning that more and more people
are asking what are good wilbear dash
cams yeah I get a lot of questions about
it it’s not something that I really test
a lot of myself so any been a lot more
experience with this and I was curious
you know as far as the different options
what you find work popular pros and cons
of different styles I’ll try I guess
let’s maybe start with your top picks
sure top picks what are your favorite
picks for best ride chair dash cams when
it comes to race your dash cams we
highly recommend black view comes even
starting from very affordable dr v 9d w
2c h ir along the a very affordable
option and all the way up to dr 900s 2ch
and therefore we highly recommend black
p once what that being said there are
dash cams that are literally just built
into a1 so you talked about the
structure yeah
dash cams literally just built into one
so you just need to stick one dash camp
to the front windshield and the
rear-facing dash cam lens is actually
mounted inside that body there’s a lot
like this at the van true dice row is a
really popular one but there’s there’s a
ton there’s time like this was right on
the rear in one unit that’s right it
seems like that would be maybe a more
convenient setup because it’s one pound
can then stick it on the windshield but
I know there’s some disadvantages to
that too sure well I mean let’s talk
about the advantages first I like that
type of dash cams for those that wants
or simply just a simple solution I guess
Ventura is a great option just stick it
to the windshield and you have you don’t
have to worry about where to mount the
second channel with that said though
suction cup system and therefore when
you’re driving there’s a bit of a
vibration in the video some people don’t
like that and at the end of the day
depending on a vehicle let’s say you
have sensors if you’re driving newer
vehicles with lots of senses in the
center upper windshield type might find
it difficult to mount where to mount the
dash cam so you might compromise on
video angle per se for either for inside
or facing forward whereas what black you
set up yeah it’d be segregated to
channel solution meaning that the rear
inside second channel would have to be
figured out essentially but the benefit
of it is that you can mount it somewhere
wherever you feel comfortable and many
find that useful because they can kind
of hide it and at the same time they can
make sure their angles are proper and we
highly recommend putting it literally
either all the way at the at the top of
the headliner
mmm windshield or just simply on a mere
cap and down below so you have optimal
angles for both front as well as for
interior facing unit that makes sense
and I guess the downside is you do have
to do a little bit more work initially
to figure out where everything should go
but ultimately I guess you wind up with
a better solution in the end exactly and
at the end of the day these dash cams I
mean the black views got proper parking
mode so why not when you’re
bending $20 and more ven true it’s also
about $20 and it doesn’t come at the
buffer parking mode right
so even Wilbur and lyft drivers they
tend to prefer parking mode – James I
was curious I figure they driving a lot
but I know about parking stuff mm-hmm
what about I guess this we’re looking at
kind of these split solutions with
Severn front and rear I don’t think
we’re and some of the manufacturers
that’s right dangerous as well they do
they they do offer F a 200 I or C
version or much more affordable to
channel 10 interior than 720 rear that’s
right I think black is 1080 rear
interior yes that’s right for the year
590 starting even with the D refined
dozen yes high-resolution of the cabin
yes so I guess just kind of as far as
split setup and then getting more
options for the black view and higher
resolution it sounds like black dude is
kind of the way to go yes
yes so what about I know they make dash
cams that are supposed to be like 360
degree oh yeah so what’s the story with
those I know I’ve tested some what are
your thoughts on this uh we talked about
this for quite some time actually this
morning yeah for me I don’t find them
useful because I think it just serves
different purpose for example actually
funny enough about five years ago I got
invited to Korea by the Korean
government of trade department and one
of the company said they’re the first
one to create this 360 security system
and you would mount it literally in the
center of the you know room according to
them they were the first one to ever
make this type of system so I’m not too
sure these dash cams are from that
company okay and then a few years after
a company started offering this sort of
solution yeah video quality isn’t all
that impressive just because it’s
covering so much yeah and yeah at the
end of the day the North American I’d
say customers or potential customers are
really looking forward to video quality
and now the market is really shifting
towards 4k I don’t think that video
quality is there for those for those
type of system that’s one of the biggest
issues exactly and at the end of the day
like we talked about as long as you have
front only or even front and back I mean
really just front only and you’re
driving just fine and someone hits you
from the side you don’t really need to
have a video proof of him
like going into your lane as long as
you’re driving just fine and you have to
right away and someone came into your
lane that’s pretty clear to cops or
insurance agencies that you shouldn’t be
at fault on the other hand this October
I was in Hong Kong for Hong Kong
electronics fare and I found this
company in Singapore they are in the
process of making a 360 – camp for
motorbikes ok so literally it gets
mounted on the top of the Mount top up
the helmet ok it looks funny but the the
purpose is there it serves the purpose
of making sure that you’re covered and I
found that holy cow that makes sense for
for that motorcyclists yeah or even
cyclists because in in scenarios where
you know you’re being cut off or I mean
it just serves them better in my opinion
and you don’t really need a like a good
video quality for those people all they
really want this that having that video
proof wherever angle that they’re being
affected by yeah I think I know there’s
some like 300 60 degree dash cams that
are coming out and yeah you have the
compromise video call it is fair about
lower and I’m just come to think of it
off top my head I don’t think there’s
any that have the IR LEDs to light up
the inside of the cabin that’s another
thing the way you do with like a true
rideshare dashcam with the exact IR LEDs
and you kind of need that especially at
night
100% if you don’t have IR lenses like
you can’t recognize it it’s gonna be
pitch black yeah it would straight be
pitch black video yeah you can’t
recognize your drivers face or even
passengers so it wouldn’t serve as any
good yeah so you need to make sure you
have IR lenses for the rideshare drivers
or people that are looking for a
two-channel solution front and interior
facing purposes that make sense so I
guess maybe I just to summarise your
favorite pics would be so the black view
and they have the 590 the 750 and the
9900 is what’s a quick summary of the
three different options kind of pros and
cons of each for sure so the reason why
I prefer black pubes is that black dudes
been making IR setups for quite a while
now yeah they’ve even got the truck
version so the entire ocean can be
it all the way at the back it’s like a
waterproof rear camera to go outside
exactly and and that’s one of the
reasons why I prefer black few ones and
black views literally made affordable
higher version starting with five ninety
seven fifty nine hundred s 2ch I don’t
really understand their thought process
as to making so many bad versions but
you got options yeah I know so that’s
why I do like black fuse in that case
but really the 592 Zhi are really
affordable option for two-channel
interior purposes I highly recommend
that and surprisingly enough do 900 s2
Chir they do quite well for us and I
suppose it’s the right share drivers
that are buying them yeah if you want 4k
in the front exactly all the other bells
and whistles – exactly and at the end of
the day like right sure drivers I think
they get it not only when they’re
driving like they’re protected on the
road but also for their own safety right
we hear cases were like I got filed for
a complaint like I didn’t do anything
and yet there’s no video proof
whatsoever that’s true to protect the
driver is exactly yeah exactly so we do
hear cases like that often so that we
may ride share bundles here and there
but at the end of the day Black Butte is
for us great ok cool things I’ve been
really curious I haven’t spent a lot of
time testing them so I get your feedback
and kind of what you found is the best
for people mm-hmm awesome so thanks yeah

One of the first things you need to decide on when looking for a dash cam is what type of camera you are looking for and what exactly you intend to use the camera for. There are two basic types of dash cams available, but it is important that you understand exactly what they are before buying and you need to understand why you want a dash cam in the first place.

To be able to use your dash cam effectively, it is important that you understand what you will be using it for. A dash cam can be used for a variety of reasons, so it is important that you understand exactly what you are going to use your camera for.

One of the most common uses for a dash cam is to capture things that occur while you are on the road. For instance, if you drive a cab or other type of cab service then it is very likely that your cab driver may want to record a ride for the customer. If you are a cab driver, you know that there are many occasions where you need to be able to record things, such as a customer’s complaints or something else that may have occurred.

In addition, if you are a business owner or have employees who are driving around then you will also benefit from having a dash cam to monitor the activities that take place. For example, if an employee or business partner has been behaving inappropriately and it is interfering with your work or personal life, then you may want to be able to record the situation to get some legal representation.

Another use of a dash cam is to use it to help prevent crimes from happening in the future. For example, you may think that the actions of an employee or business partner that has been recorded could result in a lawsuit or a bad reputation. By having a dash cam you can help to deter this problem from happening by recording the actions of your potential employees and partners and making it clear for everyone involved that these individuals are being filmed by the camera.

So, in conclusion, when looking for a dash cam for rideshare drivers, it is important that you understand exactly what you are going to use the camera for before you buy one. There are a number of different reasons to use this type of cam, but in the end, you want to make sure that you are using it in the way that works best for you and your needs.
