Ibanez GRX20 The Best Electric Guitar For $150

Video Review

Video Transcript

hey YouTube this is Justin ache a
demonic sweaters your guide in DIY
multimedia production and today I’m here
to give a little review on the Ibanez
grx
20 this is a white one they come in a
few different colors you can get them in
white and black and silver and blue and
I believe red I have seen occasionally
I’m not sure if they still make that
finish but uh this is actually the
second one of these that I bought and I
own two of them now I have a black one
and a white one and I first started
using one a couple of years ago I play
guitar in a surf rock band called the
cod and I had a more traditional looking
surf rock guitar at first and then I
picked up one of these and plugged it in
and started playing and I really loved
the way that it sounded and felt and I
just it just quickly became my first
guitar and then just a couple of months
ago I was looking for another guitar to
just keep it home and used for recording
and like my home studio and then I was
like I’ll just buy another grx 20
because I like that one so much and the
price is really good these things only
run about 150 bucks brand-new on Amazon
and the links posted below if you’re
interested and they feature two
humbuckers a 3-way switch so you can
play on bridge position both pickups or
the neck position pick up a volume and
tone knob and a really nice tremolo it’s
kind of a strat style tremolo let me
show you that there but I use you know
in the surf rock band I used the tremolo
quite a bit because that’s just part of
surf rock playing and it stays in tune
really really well and I also want to
say that how versatile these guitars
actually are because what I’m going to
do is I’m going to show you a couple
examples I’m going to show you a clip of
my surf rock band playing and the type
of sound that I can get using one of
these in surf rock and the amp that I
use and that
is a modeling app it’s a line six spider
to 75 watt and or 75 oh no it’s 75 watt
but that’s the model and for the
recorded version I’m going to play you
this that I’m using this guitar I’m
gonna isolate some tracks of a more rock
song that I’ve been working on I’m gonna
isolate the guitar tracks and the solo
section so you can hear what it will
sound like with like a good bit of like
crunch and distortion on it as well so
yeah they’re really really cool the neck
feels great they’ve been making this
particular model since 2000 so now Ivan
has actually been producing the grx 20
for 17 years so that should tell you
something right there that it’s almost
like reached this classic status they’ve
been making these things that long and
you know really
especially the white one I like the
black one too but the white one I think
looks really really nice especially with
the white pickups in there you know they
could have been they could have cut
corners and just thrown the same you
know black pickups that they use and the
other ones in there but they went ahead
and made some white ones and I just
think that adds like a total element of
class to this guitar and it just gives
it a really nice visual look there the
bodies are you know they feel solid it’s
a poplar body and I forget what the neck
is made out of I want to say maple but
I’m not totally sure you know I’m just
overall for $150 I think it’s a really
really great guitar I’ve owned all kinds
of guitars I’ve been playing since I was
10 years old I’ve owned you know
high-end Gibson Les Paul’s Fender
Mustangs you know like all kinds of
stuff strats and like one of the you
know nicest guitars I ever had was also
an Ibanez and it was a Ibanez copy of a
Les Paul like in 1970s Ibanez and these
newer ones they just really still live
up to their quality their standards of
quality and I think
really really good so I’m going to go
ahead and play you these two sections
first I’m going to play you the surf
rock band the cod and I’m going to show
you a little clip of that you can get an
idea of how sound if in like a surf rock
clean reverb type situation and then I’m
going to play you the isolated tracks of
the song that I’m working on right now
called tiny helicopter and where I’m
just gonna isolate the guitar tracks for
the solo and the rhythm part in there
and that’s oh yeah thanks for watching
and if you’re interested like I said you
can click the link below and please

video and thanks for watching see ya

If you want to start playing an electric guitar without breaking the bank, I’ve been able to do this through the years with a variety of different brands and models that I have chosen, which has all taken place with my own personal finances as well as spending time in my spare time.

My goal when I started out was to learn how to play the guitar quickly and affordably, so I didn’t spend money on expensive beginner instruments. I didn’t even have a budget yet but had a lot of luck to find the right equipment that would help me learn in a way that was both convenient for me and affordable to me as well. This led to the first lesson I learned: how to buy used equipment.

The best electric guitar under $200 I’ve ever found used was a LyxPro. I don’t know who it was for, but I sure learned a lot about the instrument from it, which can only help me when I’m playing a better version of the same kind in the future.

Other electric guitar under $200 that I could recommend is a Ibanez, which I’ve owned for three years now. Although I didn’t buy it used, I spent more money on it than I probably should have, because it’s been well worth it to me over the years. I feel like I’ve learned more about music, have more fun playing and just have more fun with my electric guitar now.
